Key product updates at a glance

Google has paused the rollout of image-upload avatars in Vids, Anthropic has published Claude Code 2.1.318, and Google Meet is rolling out custom notices that can appear when Gemini takes meeting notes. A fresh developer discussion also highlights OpenAI’s documented model-shutdown-date field.

Coverage runs from 1 November at 12:02 to 4 November at 11:54 Europe/Istanbul (UTC+3). Dates below distinguish announcements, availability changes and software publication. Service disruptions and recoveries are covered separately in today’s incident report.

Change Availability at cutoff Evidence date
Google Vids image-upload avatars Rollout paused; resumption date unknown Announced 2 Nov; updated 3 Nov
Google Meet custom policy notices Extended rollout, off by default Rollout began 2 Nov; announcement 3 Nov
Claude Code 2.1.318 Published software release 4 Nov, 03:01 Istanbul
OpenAI model shutdown_date Present in official API documentation Community observation 3 Nov; original launch date unknown

Google Vids: image-upload avatar rollout is paused

Google’s 3 November update pauses the rollout of custom avatars created from uploaded images. The original 2 November announcement describes choosing an image from a computer, Drive or Photos, refining its appearance inside Vids, and reusing the saved avatar within the project. The latest notice replaces the rollout timetable with TBD. Original announcement and pause update.

Google lists Business Starter/Standard/Plus, Enterprise Starter/Standard/Plus, Education Plus, personal accounts, Google AI Pro/Ultra and several other Workspace editions or add-ons as eligible. That eligibility list does not mean the paused feature is available to every eligible account now. The post says there is no admin control for this feature, gives no reason for the pause, and promises an update when rollout resumes.

Practical impact: creators planning an avatar workflow should check actual access before building a production schedule around image uploads. This is a specific feature-rollout pause, not evidence that all Google Vids video creation is down.

Google Meet: custom notices can explain Gemini note-taking policies

Google Meet administrators can configure a short policy message, with an optional link, for the pre-meeting Green Room. It can appear always or when a meeting is being recorded, transcribed or has notes taken by Gemini. Google’s 3 November announcement.

The feature is off by default and can be enabled by organizational unit in Meet Safety Settings. An extended rollout for Rapid and Scheduled Release domains began 2 November and may take longer than 15 days. Listed editions include Business Standard/Plus, Enterprise Standard/Plus, Education Fundamentals/Standard/Plus, Frontline Plus and Google AI Pro for Education.

Analysis: this gives organizations a place to explain their own handling of meeting recordings, transcripts and AI notes before participants join. A configurable notice is not itself a consent or legal-compliance guarantee, and the announcement does not add Gemini note-taking to every listed plan.

Claude Code 2.1.318: sign-in visibility and session-recovery fixes

Anthropic published Claude Code 2.1.318 at 03:01 Istanbul on 4 November. The release exposes stored claude.ai login-expiry information and adds an unattended-text warning starting ten days before expiry. Official versioned release notes.

It also fixes lost conversation history after malformed-tool retries, macOS stalls with many Bash commands, accidental permission-prompt keystrokes, and several configuration-saving and session-restart failures. Cloud sessions gain an option to start without a repository. Claude Code also stops automatically installing or updating the IDE extension merely because it starts inside an IDE terminal.

Availability: this is a published application release, not a new Claude model or proof every installation has updated. Account and environment eligibility still govern cloud features. Practical impact: users of unattended jobs, shared network home directories or long-running remote sessions should review the release notes before upgrading. These are Anthropic’s stated fixes; MUVO did not reproduce or benchmark them.

OpenAI: documented shutdown dates support model-migration checks

OpenAI’s Models API reference now documents an optional shutdown_date string, or null when no shutdown is announced. A developer highlighted the field in a 3 November community post; that is a dated observation, not an official launch announcement. We could not establish the original release date. Official List models reference, dated developer discussion.

Practical impact: applications that inventory model IDs can use the documented date field to flag planned migrations. A missing or null value is not a promise of indefinite availability. The community author also reports seeing retired models in returned listings; that remains an attributed observation, not a MUVO-verified API test. Do not treat a documentation example as an actual shutdown announcement for a named model.

For a separate dated migration notice, see the Gemini 2.5 API redirects reported yesterday.

The broader music, speech, video and remix watchlist was checked. Previously covered releases, generic app-store update dates, undated page changes and unfulfilled future release promises were not republished as new launches. Official availability statements can still depend on account access and rollout stage.
