Key product updates at a glance

DeepSeek’s model and search-tool release leads today’s edition, alongside a practical Mureka library update and OpenAI usage changes. The scan covers 15 October at 11:59 through 18 October at 11:53 Europe/Istanbul (UTC+3). Items retain their source dates; vendor performance claims are not MUVO benchmarks.

DeepSeek Flash-1017: updated model behind the existing API alias

DeepSeek’s 17 October changelog upgrades DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash to DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017. It says the official website and app have been updated, while API callers continue using deepseek-flash with unchanged calling methods and pricing. Dated release notes.

DeepSeek claims improvements in performance and efficiency; we have not independently tested those claims. The provider recommends DeepSeek Harness 0.2.1-rc.1 or later for users of that client.

The current model table confirms the new version. Legacy Flash aliases remain accepted but now route to Flash-1017, so retaining an old alias does not pin the old model. Developers with repeatability requirements should record the serving version and evaluate their own prompts before relying on previous results. The announcement does not supply a complete regional-access matrix.

DeepSeek Search & Fetch: standalone APIs with a future billing change

DeepSeek has opened its in-house search engine through separate Search and Fetch APIs. Search returns structured web results; Fetch retrieves a page as Markdown. They use existing DeepSeek API authentication and can support research agents or retrieval workflows. 17 October announcement, Search & Fetch guide.

The published price is US$0.75 per 1,000 successful requests for each API. The guide excludes failed requests, empty search results and timeouts from billing, and lists separate five-requests-per-second account limits for Search and Fetch. Site access restrictions can still prevent retrieval. API billing and limits.

A specific transition applies to server-side tool calls when using DeepSeek through DeepSeek Harness, Claude Code or Codex: the pricing page says these calls are currently free, with per-request billing starting 1 November at 00:00 Beijing time, equivalent to 31 October at 19:00 Istanbul / 16:00 UTC. This is not a blanket statement that standalone API calls are free. Pricing and transition notice.

Analysis: Teams budgeting an agent should account for both model tokens and successful search/fetch calls. A model-price comparison alone can miss the tool charges that the documented transition introduces.

Mureka: library workspaces and batch song actions

Mureka’s 17 October “A Smarter Library” release adds workspaces for organizing songs and multi-song filtering, downloading and moving. For creators managing alternate takes, the practical change is organizing and handling several tracks together. Official English release note.

The short notice does not specify a minimum plan, regional rollout, mobile-version requirement or API availability. It also does not establish collaborative permissions or changed music-licensing rights. Check the controls present in your account.

The same changelog dates its Remix refresh to 9 October and MV Director to 14 September. Those older entries are context, not new 17 October launches.

OpenAI: Codex and Work usage efficiency, plus a reset announcement

An official OpenAI community announcement dated 17 October describes improvements intended to increase effective Codex and Work usage. It attributes the change to reusing context across subagents, keeping it cached longer and improving request routing. No numerical gain or plan-wide increase to fixed limits is specified. Official announcement.

A later 17 October post announces a rate-limit reset. We could read the official community post but not its linked X source; the post does not establish an exact reset timestamp, complete eligibility or that a particular account has received it. Treat it as an announcement and check your account’s usage display. Reset announcement.

These updates are separate from the voice and Slides features in our 17 October news edition.

Microsoft: Vision AI component added to Copilot+ documentation

Microsoft’s support changelog records an addition about the Vision AI component on 17 October. The page describes on-device image analysis on supported Copilot+ PCs, including image description, segmentation, object extraction and enhancement. Microsoft’s component documentation.

This establishes a documentation update. It does not establish that all those features launched on 17 October, or that they work on every Windows PC. Hardware and Windows support remain relevant to availability.
